The Tjelmeland kitchen serves as a good example of how you can transform a kitchen by making cosmetic adjustments to a space. Since their home was only ten years old, it was not necessary to overhaul the kitchen, but it was in need of some updating to make it more aesthetically pleasing.   For this project, Thumbs-Up Designs served as the design consultant. The owners, Michelle and Joel, had a clear vision for what they wanted. Michelle and Joel worked with certified kitchen designer Curt Mavis to create a kitchen that was eye-catching but also functional. The best part, Michelle said, was getting to preview what the kitchen would look like before they committed to anything.       Curt created a detailed rendering of what their “vision” would look like. After “seeing” Curt’s detailed rendering of their space, the Tjelmelands were able to determine exactly what they wanted to incorporate into their remodeling project. Many of the ideas the Tjelmelands initially thought they wanted in their kitchen design were reworked once they were able to study the rendering and gain valuable insight and design perspectives from Curt. The Tjelmelands loved the fact that they were able to see exactly what the countertops, lighting, barstools and appliances would like before the process began.   Mavis worked with them to pick out their granite and formica countertops, the hardware for their cabinets, pendant lighting, kitchen chairs, faucets and sinks for their kitchen and wet bar area, and appliances, as well as the materials needed for the custom island in the middle of the kitchen.    “Can you imagine how much money Thumbs-Up Designs saved us? We were able to study the renderings and determine what we really loved and what wouldn’t work for our space,” Michelle said. “Thumbs-Up Designs is all about details, and those details are what set apart an ordinary kitchen from an extraordinary kitchen. We couldn’t be happier with what they created for us.”
